How it works

Cold brew is typically made at a concentrated ratio (e.g. 1:5 coffee to water) and diluted to drinking strength before serving. If your concentrate is 1 : C and you want to drink at 1 : T, you need to add (T − C) parts of water per part of concentrate. The tool converts this to millilitres for the volume of concentrate you have on hand.

Step-by-step

  1. Enter the ratio you brewed your concentrate at (commonly 1:4 to 1:8).
  2. Enter your target drink strength — 1:15 to 1:18 tastes like a strong iced coffee.
  3. Enter the volume of concentrate you're serving right now.
  4. Pour that concentrate into a glass and add the water (or milk) amount shown, plus ice.

FAQ

What concentrate ratio should I brew?

1:5 to 1:8 by weight is standard. Stronger concentrates are more efficient to store; weaker ones require less dilution.

Can I dilute with milk instead of water?

Yes — the math is the same by volume. Expect a creamier, less "coffee-forward" drink.

Why is my diluted cold brew still bitter?

Bitterness often comes from over-extraction during steeping. Try a coarser grind or a shorter steep next time, then dilute as normal.

How long does concentrate keep?

Sealed in the fridge, 7–14 days. Flavor peaks in the first week.
